BTEC Sport
Manchester United Foundation partnered with Eccles Sixth Form College in October 2017 with the vision of working together on a Centre of Excellence in Sport.
The partnership allows us to offer students who study on the BTEC Sport programme unique opportunities such as:
· Visits to the Carrington Training Ground and Old Trafford stadium.
· Receiving first-class coaching from former Manchester United players and Foundation staff.
· Access to tickets for Manchester United home games.
· Opportunities to apply for paid match day work at Old Trafford stadium.
In addition to the BTEC Sport studies, the college provides work experience and chances to gain internationally recognised coaching qualifications.
Over recent years sports facilities at Eccles have seen over £100K in investment. This includes a brand new, fully equipped gym, a sports performance laboratory and a 4G pitch.
What will I study?
The course allows you to develop your coaching skills and offers work opportunities. On completion of the course you will receive the following qualifications depending on the route you take: BTEC National Diploma in Sport Level 1, 2 or Level 3.
Where will BTEC Sport take me?
You can gain employment in a coaching role or study sports related subjects within higher education. Participation in BTEC Sport has led to careers in coaching, personal training, teaching, physiotherapy and sports therapy.
There are several progression routes our learners have taken over the years. There is also the opportunity to progress by continuing your studies at Eccles Sixth Form College or at University. Some of our previous students have also received scholarships to study and play football in the United States.
