Manchester United goalscoring legend Andy Cole will return to Old Trafford when a team of Red legends take on Celtic on Saturday 7th September.

Fresh from being inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame, the famous United no. 9 will take his place in the dugout as assistant manager for the day, along with fellow club great Bryan Robson who will be managing the team.

Cole scored an incredible 121 goals in 275 appearances for the club between 1995-2001, winning five Premier Leagues, two FA Cups and the legendary Champions League triumph of 1999. The former forward, along with many of his team-mates from that glorious period, has previously returned to Theatre of Dreams in support the Legends games and Manchester United Foundation, which benefits most from the day. As ever, Coley is excited to be back.

“These games are important to me,” Andy said. “It’s not just an opportunity to be back with the boys, but a chance to help the Foundation raise as much money as possible. Everyone enjoys them, which is why we all keep coming back, and it will be no different this time.

“Playing Celtic at any level is always fantastic,” he added. “Whether a competitive match or a friendly, their fans always travel so well, and I’m sure we’ll get the support from our fans, too. It’ll be a great day.”

Proceeds from the match will go towards supporting the Foundation’s community work both locally in Greater Manchester, and beyond. This latest game follows recent memorable Legends matches against the likes of Bayern Munich and Liverpool that raised millions of pounds to support young people in our region.
